Frequently Asked Questions

Learn about the game's mechanics and design philosophy

Is this pay-to-win?

No. The Power Elites is built on ethical freemium principles. Monetization focuses exclusively on cosmetics (skins, prestige items, UI themes) and quality-of-life features (convenience, not power). All gameplay-affecting systems are balanced for fairness.

How does the market work?

The market uses a price-time priority matching engine. Orders are matched based on price first, then timestamp. Price formation combines fundamental metrics, sentiment (from news and events), liquidity/volatility regimes, and policy modifiers. Circuit breakers halt trading during extreme moves to prevent cascades.

Can I control multiple corporations?

Yes. You can found, invest in, and control multiple corporations through shareholding. However, insider trading protections, blackout windows, and disclosure requirements create strategic trade-offs. Conflicts of interest are visible and may affect reputation.

How do elections work?

Elections follow a structured cycle: registration, campaigning, debates, voting, and certification. Campaign effectiveness depends on messaging, demographics, fundraising, endorsements, and events. Turnout is modeled with elasticity bands. Winners gain access to policy levers that affect markets and compliance.

What is the reputation system?

Reputation tracks three dimensions: Honor (fairness and ethics), Influence (reach and network effects), and Notoriety (controversy and fear). Sources include elections, proposals, market behavior, scandals, philanthropy, and crisis handling. Effects include better deal terms, party recruitment, media bias, and regulator scrutiny.

Are there NPCs or AI players?

The game is designed for multiplayer dynamics, but the roadmap includes AI competitors to ensure market liquidity and political activity. AI behavior follows the same rules as players and is tuned to create emergent complexity without pay-to-win advantages.

How are dynamic events triggered?

Events use four trigger types: scheduled (LiveOps calendars), probabilistic (random within world state constraints), threshold (metrics crossing bounds), and player-driven (aggregate actions exceeding counts). Events present 2-4 choices with explicit costs/risks/rewards.

What platforms will this support?

Initial launch targets web browsers (desktop and mobile-optimized). Future expansions may include native mobile apps and desktop clients, but the web-first approach ensures accessibility and rapid iteration.

Can I trade and interact in real-time with other players?

Yes. The market operates in real-time with live order books, price updates, and transaction settlement. Political campaigns, proposals, and alliance activities also unfold in real-time, creating dynamic multiplayer interactions and strategic timing opportunities.

How do you handle security and data protection?

We prioritize security with industry-standard encryption, secure authentication, and data protection measures. All financial transactions are logged in an immutable audit trail. We comply with privacy regulations and never sell user data. Your privacy policy can be reviewed in detail on our Privacy page.

How do alliances work?

Alliances are named entities with shared treasuries, intelligence feeds, and internal governance structures. Members can coordinate on investments, campaigns, and policy objectives. Alliance cohesion is tracked through contribution levels, trust scores, and defection penalties. Strong alliances amplify individual power but require maintenance.

Is there a storyline or is it purely sandbox?

The Power Elites is primarily sandbox-driven, allowing emergent narratives from player interactions. However, dynamic events (LiveOps, crises, scandals) provide structured story beats and challenges. Your choices shape your reputation arc and legacy, creating a personalized narrative within the shared world.

Can I customize my character and corporation?

Yes. Players choose backgrounds (Self-Made, Inherited, Academic, Political) that provide trait modifiers. Corporations can be customized with names, logos, mission statements, and share class structures. Cosmetic monetization includes profile themes, prestige items, and UI customization—purely aesthetic, no gameplay advantages.

What happens if I lose all my money or go bankrupt?

Bankruptcy is a strategic reset, not game over. You lose control of insolvent corporations, and reputation takes a hit (notoriety rises, honor drops). However, you can rebuild with a fresh start, new ventures, or employment in other corporations. The game is designed to reward comebacks and strategic adaptation.
